What to know about permits in Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach takes permit, planning and plan check applications online through its HB ACA (Accela Citizen Access) portal; initial application review takes about 5 business days.
An Owner-Builder Verification Form must be submitted with every owner-builder permit application.
Contractors need a current Huntington Beach business license, the right State contractor license and proof of workers' compensation (unless working alone).
Much of the city is in the Coastal Zone, where a Coastal Development Permit may be needed before the building permit.
